Is Zakat required to be paid on the cash and gold that was gifted to my grandson?

My grandson was given gift, cash and gold since the time he was born in the last 10 years. They are kept in trust for him to enjoy when he atleast 18 years. Is zakat required to be paid on them. Thank u Mufti Sahab

Answer

(Fatwa: 411/296=H)

If the gifts were meant for your grandson and they are in his ownership, then Zakah is not obligatory on the cash and gold and sliver until he reaches the age of puberty.
