Permissibility of buying a miswak without direct interaction with the seller?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
One day i bought a miswak from a roadside seller outside a masjid but the salesman was not available so another customer told me to select the miswak i like and to keep the money in his cash so i did what he said as i was in a hurry but afterwards i thought was it according to shariah or not?

Until the seller is not present, his goods should not be taken. However after taking the miswak if you put the price of the miswak in his cash, then you paid what was due on you.
