Is women’s Jumuah Jamah allowed in Islam?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
In our village we have a belief that women’s Jumuah jamah is prohibited in Masjid where all men do Jumuah. Now some people they call themselves as Salafi/Mujtahids tell that women Jumuah Jamah is women’s right and Islam allows that. With the help of some hadith they are telling that it has been there during our Prophet’s (SAW) time. What is the Islamic view towards women Jumuah Jamah?

Answer

(Fatwa: 1536/B-318/TB=1432)

Hadhrat Humaidah Al-Sa’idi (رضى الله عنها) asked the holy Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم), O Prophet of Allah! Should I offer salah behind you or at home? The holy Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said that it was far better for a woman to offer her salah inside the room of her home. After that day Hadhrat Humaid al-Sa’idi never came in the mosque of Prophet, and always kept on offering salah at her home, and sacrificed the virtues and blessings of offering salah behind the holy Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) in Masjid-e-Nabwi. This is the ruling according to majority of Ulama. However, if sometime a woman offers five times salah or Jumuah salah behind male Imam behind curtain then her salah shall be alright but it is not better. In the light of said hadith it is better for women to offer salah in their homes individually. It carries more reward for them.
