Is it necessary for a woman’s hair to be long enough to cover her breasts upon her death?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
Is it necessary for a woman’s hair to be long enough to cover her breasts when she dies-when the hair will be divided into two and put on her breasts?

Answer

(Fatwa: 800/520/L=1432)

At the time of burial, the ruling is that woman’s hair shall be divided into two parts and put on her chest:
ويجعل شعرها ضفيرتين على صدرها فوق الدرع . (عالمكيري: 1/177)
However, if the hair of any woman is short naturally this ruling will not apply her, but it is unlawful and source of curse to cut hair short.
