Correction for an Imam who makes mistakes during prayer?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
Salaam If an imaam makes mistakes such as ‘sits down in the fourth rakaat’ when he should stand who is corrected by the people behind him, who then say subhanallah and this occurs with the imaam 2/3 times a week, 1/ should the imaam be replaced? 2/ would the salaat have to be performed again?

Answer

(Fatwa: 1497/1421=B=1430)

No one is exempted from forgetting and mistake. In the abovementioned case, if the imam stood up immediately after being prompted, the salah will be valid without any need for sajdah sahv. If he delayed for more than three tasbeeh (سبحان اللہ), the salah will be valid with sajdah sahv.  Neither it is needed to perform salah again nor to change the imam, but he can be admonished to lead salah mindfully.
