Emu bird is halal or hram ?

(Fatwa: 1336/1336/M=1431)
It is haram to eat all those animals who prey with their canine tooth or birds who prey with their claw and nail or those, which are among the species of insects.
و لا يحل ذو ناب يصيد بنابه فخرج نحوا البعير أو مخلب يصيد بمخلبه أى ظفره فخرج نحو الحمامة من سبع الخ (درمختار)
Study the emu bird and see whether these rules, are applicable to it or not. Thus, you can know the rulings of halal and haram. Or enquire to the local Ulama regarding it.
