Is it legal to put a gravestone on a grave?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
Are you allowed to put a gravestone on a grave?

Answer

(Fatwa: 378/J)

To put a gravestone on a grave is allowed for identification purpose, but it should have only the name of the dead, not any Quranic verse:

And, if there is no need for identification then one should not put a gravestone.
