Do I need to return the money given to me by my cousin, even if I’m not in contact with him?

Assalam u Alaikum. Hazrat my doubt is one of my cousin given me some huge amount of money and said spend as u like and at that time i have some depts so i accepted the money,he didnt said any thing about returning the money to him.Do i have to pay him back the money he has given.the problem is, due to some family fight we are not in talks and my parents feel some harm from them, my parents has given me a strict warning not to speak to him or his family.Can you please guide, if i talk to him i’ll disobey my parents.how can i know that it was not a loan or he just help me. Answer

(Fatwa: 1160/1003=L/1429)

If your cousin, while giving you the money, did neither specify it as debt nor there is any indication of the same, then it will be considered as gift and you do not have to return it back.
