Is tabligh following Islamic or sunnah guidelines?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
Is the right way of tabligh according to Islam or sunnah, i. e. to follow that 3 days, 40 days, 4 months etc. Is it mentioned in hadith? These types of act happen during Hadhrat Muhammad (SAW)? If this act is right, then they spread Islam among Muslims or non-Muslim? Please clarify all with reference to Hadith.

Answer

(Fatwa: 1787/1259/L=1432)

The order of tabligh is mentioned in the holy Quran and hadith clearly. However, its method and procedure has not been determined. Hence any procedure and system may be developed for it while maintaining Shariah limits. Hence in each period different methods have been introduced by Ulama and pious people. In this era, the known method of tabligh has been designed by Ulama and pious people and it is very useful and correct as per the Shariah. Many things have been mentioned in the holy Quran and hadith briefly, but its method and procedure has been left to the Ulama and pious people of the age as per the expediency of each era and circumstance. Likewise, the effect of 40 days or 4 months is proved from hadith in different circumstances.
