Is it permissible to pray in a Masjid where the water and electricity are illegally obtained?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
Assalam O Alaikum, This is regarding my previous question (Fatwa ID 13871). My earlier question was whether it is allowed or not to use illegal water and electricity in a Masjid. Illegal means theft of electricity and water. you answered that it is a sinful act. Now my further question is whether it is allowed for us (muqtadis) to offer the prayer in such place of worship where the water and electricity used is illegal. Please reply us soon. We muqtadis are unable to pay bills for water and electricity because here Mutawalli is a very corrupt man. He sells electricity to the tenants from the Masjid. And these tenants use heaters and other appliances very carelessly.

Answer

(Fatwa: 1031/1031=M/1430)

Performing salah in such mosques cannot be termed as unlawful, but the muqtadis who know that the water and electricity is illegally used in mosque, they should draw the attention of the trustee of the mosque to the same and try to change the unlawful use into lawful and fair. Trustee of a mosque should be pious, trustworthy and honest. If one is not, the people should choose anyone else bearing such qualities.
