Assalamualaikum. Is it permissible for ladies to go out without MAHRAM. For a good cause like ISTEMA can the ladies go without their MAHRAM i.e with their Mother in law. Plz guide us in this matter. Jazakallah.

(Fatwa: 1586/1329=L/1429)
If the Ijtema (Islamic function) is nearby or she is in dire need she can go out without mahram with mother in law etc observing purdah provided there is no fear of any fitnah, but for a long journey she must be accompanied by any mahram or husband.
