What should be done about inheritance in the case of a relative who has recently died?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
My relative has recently died leaving behind 6 daughters and one son. In his life he had handed over an envelope of money to his friend to hand over to one certain daughter, none of the children knew about the envelope till he died and friend handed over the envelope. What should be done about the money? Whether it will be of specified daughter or should be distributed according to Islamic law of inheritance?

Answer

(Fatwa: 236/182/B=1433)

That envelop was a gift for the daughter and she became its owner alone. That amount shall not be divided in the inheritance provided that envelop reached in the hand of daughter before the death of father. However, other money, belongings and property except the envelop shall be distributed as inheritance among the heirs.
