Can an IT professional do a job in a bank without taking money from interest, according to Islam?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
Respected Ulma, One of my cousin living in India going to join a Multinational Bank. He is an MBA qualified & his job oppurtunities and growth are more associated with Financial Sectors. I requested him to think again as you are going to earn “HARAM” that’s anyhow not permitted in ISLAM. He says that ” There is no such single company in India which does not lend money on interest. So in that case I won’t be able to do any job here in India at least. I won’t take any money from ineterst. But to lead my life I have to join some organization or the other. So I have no options” Kindly guide me what is true according to our Islam with refference to Quaran/Hadith so that I can guide myself and let him know. I am an IT professional, can I do job in Bank ? Will be highly appreciated and waiting for your quickest response. Regards!

(Fatwa: 2384/1985=B/1429)

If there is a work of writing interest-base account or checking it in the bank, then apparently the salary of such kind of employment will be haram and unlawful. As it is unlawful to eat and feed interest, in the similar way it is also unlawful to be a witness to it and write its account, and all have been cursed by the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم). It is mentioned in Muslim Sharif:

عن جابر أنه قال: لعن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم اكل الربوا وموكله وشاهديه وكاتبه وقال هم سواء (مسلم 27:2)
