What does the dream mean and how can I help my father to be forgiven for his sins?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
“In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful” Asalamo Alykum, I once had plans to go abroad for studies. I did an Isthekhara for it. I saw my father crying over some mutual business partners’ loss and somebody telling me that my father is already burnt. It was such a painful dream that I woke up with tears in my eyes. I gathered from it that my father has spent much on us and much of it is from Sood. So do not pressurize him for more expenditures so that he is forced to stick to Sood. I quit my plans for study abroad, and I have been trying for him to leave all Soodi investments. But when i think that the dream said “he is already burnt” i feel perhaps it is no use. The sin has amounted so much that Allah na karae, but he will burn in hell for sure. So I get disheartened. I also get disheartened because he has started taking out money from Soodi investments upon our insistence but he does not really consider it a sin. He says it is not that kind of forbidden Sood. So I wonder, even if he takes out all his soodi investment, if the remorse is not there, perhaps he will not be forgiven for lack of Tauba. How do you interpret the dream?

Interest is haram in the eye of Shariah, whether it is business interest (as your father takes) or usury (in which a capitalist lends money at interest on fixed duration), both are haram. Allah has gone so far to declare war against those who do not leave interest in spite of it being unlawful. Obviously one daring to go to war with Allah will certainly bear dire consequences:

وَأَحَلَّ اللَّهُ الْبَيْعَ وَحَرَّمَ الرِّبَا

فَإِنْ لَمْ تَفْعَلُوا فَأْذَنُوا بِحَرْبٍ مِنَ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ

Some people influenced by the West think that business interest is ok, but it is absolutely wrong. The Hadith clearly forbids the same: نھی رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم عن المخابرۃ

The dream is due to the effect of the interest, since abundant sins will cause burning in fire and Hell. Convince your father and convey him the commandments of Allah and His Messenger about interest, ask him to give the interest amount in charity to the poor without an intention of reward. He should seek forgiveness from Allah and should never abandon hopes in His mercy. Allah has prohibited us to despair Allah’s mercy, the Quran says: لا تَقْنَطُوا مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ, Allah says that He will forgive every sin except polytheism and infidelity (shirk and kufr).
