Permissibility of visiting religious shrines and performing dua to Allah?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
Some people have told me it is acceptable to go to a religious person’s shrine and perform dua to Allah (Like the famous shrine in Ajmer). Keeping the dead person as an intermediary between the person offering dua and Allah. Please mention any quote from Quran which allows or disallows this.

There is a hadith in Bukhari that three persons of Bani Israel came to a mountain. It began to rain, they took shelter in a cave. A big rock fell from the mountain over the mouth of the cave and blocked the entrance. Then by giving the reference (wasilah) of their good deeds they invoked Allah. Allah removed the rock from the mouth of the cave and they were relieved from that difficulty. If we invoke Almighty Allah by giving the reference of good deeds of His wali like Hadhrat Khawaja Moinuddin Ajmeri (رحمة الله عليه), Khawaja Nizamuddin Aauliya (رحمة الله عليه), Shaikh Sabir Kaliyari (رحمة الله عليه), Khawaja Baqi Billah, Shaikh Ahmad Sarhindi (رحمة الله عليه) etc, Almighty Allah would accept our dua. You need not to go to Ajmer, Delhi, Kaliyar and Sarhind. It is wrong to believe that dua would be accepted more by attending mazar (shrines) and it is against the Quran and sunnah.
