I have named my daughter as Malaika, I wanted to know if its islamically premitted or not?

Answer

(Fatwa: 85/85=M)

In Arabic ‘Malaika’ means common angels, some of them have proper nouns, but no angel is named as ‘Malaika’. Though naming one’s daughter ‘Malaika’ is not unlawful, but it is not better. You are advised to keep any other name.
