Does my wife need to pay kaffarah and make up missed fasts due to a miscarriage during Ramadan?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
Salaams My wife has recently unfortunately had a miscarraige during ramadhaan, as a result she has stopped fasting. Does she have to pay kaffarah aswell as make the fast up at a later date, what is the ruling?

Answer

(Fatwa: 1550/10005/L=1431)

You did not write why did you stop fasting. Had you sent the question in the beginning of Ramadan with the explanation of pregnancy period and the later situation we would have written the ruling regarding keeping fast. As far as the matter of kaffarah is concerned, if your wife did not keep the fast, there is no kaffarah; it is enough to keep the missed fasts.
