I have attended a marriage. were there is no quthba and dua. i was told as per sunnath no need of this . please clear my dought

The sunnah way is that first the khutbah of nikah should be recited, then ijab-o-qubool (proper exchange of words of nikah). However, the nikah will be valid if only ijab-o-qubool has been conducted without khutbah. However, a nikah without khutbah does not have that much blessing.
