Is it permissible to observe nawwafil salaah and use haajaat salaah for someone else’s malady?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
Assalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullah, Dear Sheikh, I pray to Allah SWT that you are enjoying a good health & high Islamic spirit. (1) It has come to my knowledge that some people observe certain nawwafil salaah by reciting any specific surah a certain number of times( that is more than once) in each raka’ah after reading surah faati’ha. Sometimes they would make an extra sajdah after reading the tashahhud & darood and there, they would ask for any specific doah they are in need for. They would even call this salah as haajaat. However I have not cross of any of this kind of salaah in the ahadeeth. Could you please enlighten me on this. (2) My second question is about those ‘aamil who after asking someone’s name & mother’s name, claim that they make istikhaarah salah in order to find out if that person is under the influence of jiin or evil eyes etc. As far as i understand, Istikhaarah salaah is accomplished when someone is unsure of whether doing something is good for him/her or not. But what I don’t understand is how Istikhaarah salaah can help someone to find out the malady of someone else. Would that not be more appropriate to offer haajah salaah in this context? I look forward to your valuable views and comments on the above two issues Incha Allah. I thank you in anticipation for your cooperation. Wassalaam.

There is no such salah; therefore it must be avoided.

(2) We are unaware what the aamils do. However, in the case mentioned above, it is better to perform Salatul Hajah and supplicate Allah.
