Is it valid to replace the bride’s father’s name with her uncle’s on the nikahnamah?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
asalamualaykum muftisahab, My cousin is getting married, INSHAALLAH, in Decemeber. He has some questions regarding validity of nikah. his fiancee was brought up by her uncle (maamu). Now before the nikah her uncle insists that his name be printed on the invitation card in place of her real fathers name i.e replace her fathers name with his name. we fear that they might insist on a similar thing on the nikahnamah. Please let us know whether such a nikah will be valid?? was it a mistake to print replace her fathers name with her uncles on the invitation card?? Please reply at the earliest.

Answer

(Fatwa: 2378/1859=H/1429)

The demand from the uncle of the girl is not lawful as per the Shariah; he should be stopped to do so.
