Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
As’salamu va’alikum Mufti sab, am Huzaifa, i have a few qns related to nikah, hope you will clarify them, I am an engg grad,i was working with a company for some and resigned the job on prtext of finding job in my domain, my maternal uncle wants me to marry his daughter ,thats my cousin, and my parents have no prob with that. and they even had a engagment ceremony sometime back, but i am not ready for nikah as of now, i asked my parents 2 years of time, and father says if its an engagement, elders do mashura and they’ll give only upto 6 months of time. and now nikah is fixed in april 1)is it permissible to marry someone if your are not earning.and your parents are ok with that.and if you are still dependent on parents. 2) is it permissible do higher studies after nikah.even at this point,i will be still dependent on parents. 3)what is the best book, i can refer related to nikah according to sunnah(plz do suggest some english translated one’s). hoping that you will answer these qns soon.

Answer

(Fatwa: 126/126/M=1431)

(1) There is no wrong in solemnizing the nikah if the parents are ready to bear the expenses.

(2) This is also not unlawful if the parents allow and permit.

(3) Islami Shadi and Bahishti Zewar are useful books. Bahishti Zewar is available in English and about other books you may enquire the book depots.
