Is it compulsory to take parental permission to go for Umrah and Hajj?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
Assalam-o-Alikum, Mufti sahib I want to know that is it compulsory to take permission of the parents to go for umrah and haj? And also explain that I am doing job in Dubai and I want to go for umrah from here so parent’s permission is must or not? jazakALLAH

Answer

(Fatwa: 997/940=B/1430)

For hajj and umrah, it is not necessary to seek permission of parents, but seeking their advice and going on the pilgrimage with their consent and well wishes is appreciable and better, whether you go from Dubai or from your own country. The status of parents is very much higher.
