Can I use a credit card instead of asking for help?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
Can i use credit card in hard times instead of asking others to help for money (kharz e hasana).

Answer

(Fatwa: 1259/760/=1432)

Interest based dealings are haram as per the holy Quran.
وَأَحَلَّ اللّهُ الْبَيْعَ وَحَرَّمَ الرِّبَا [البقرة : 275]
Hence in difficult times too if it is possible to get Qarz hasanah (interest free debt) easily, then it is not lawful as per the Shariah to pay interest by using credit card. Yes, in emergency cases if one fears loss in case of getting Qarz Hasanah, then the use of credit card shall be lawful.
يجوز للمحتاج الاستقراض بالربح (الأشباه والنظائر)
Note: This ruling is when one has to pay interest compulsorily; otherwise if one has not to pay interest then the use of credit card is lawful in general conditions.
