Is my grandmother the sole owner of the joint account?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
My grandfather passed away a month ago. He had a joint account in bank with my grandmother. Now after his demise, My uncle is claiming for his share. Pls guide us on the following aspects- 1)Is my grandmother the sole owner of the money in the account? 2)Given the Will in which my grandfather mentioned that his wife will be the owner of the property and only after her will there be any distribution of property. What is the ruling considering the Will?

Answer

(Fatwa: 898/749/B=1432)

(1) What was grandfather and grandmother’s ratio of combined account in the bank i.e. was it half and half or less or more? After knowing it we can have a say. Also who among the heirs of grandfather were alive at the time of his death, write their detail.
(2) The will of grandfather for grandmother is null; it shall not be implemented because making will for heirs is unlawful.
