It is allowed:
ولما جاءھم کتاب من عند اللہ مصدق لما معھم و کانوا من قبل یستفتحون علی الذین کفروا (القرآن الکریم، سورۃ البقرۃ)
Under this verse, Allama Syed Mahmood Aalusi writes that before the advent of Islam the Jews in their fights against the kuffar tribes used to pray for their victory with the waseelah (mediation) of the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم). Even they used to pray by putting their fingers at the places in Torah where the names of the Prophet (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) were mentioned:
اللھم انا نسألک بحق نبیک الذی وعدتنا أن تبعثہ فی آخر الزمان أن تنصرنا علی عدونا اھ (تفسیر روح المعانی: 1/289، تفسیر الدر المنثور: 1/88).
