Is it permissible for Muslims to have a romantic relationship before marriage?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
I am madly in love with one of my relatives. She is also madly in love with me. We want to marry each other. but her parents arranged her marraige somewhere else saying that love before marraige is immoral in islam. Is it correct that love for somebody before marraige is haram in islam. can we get married.

Answer

(Fatwa: 636/621=L)

In Islam, it is prohibited to have love affairs with a non-mahram girl. Yes, if the boy and girl love each other in their heart with the intention of marriage and do not commit any thing unlawful then there is no sin. However, if she is already married to anyone else then it is haram for you to marry her.
