Can Muslims hunt for food if illegal?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
If hunting of animal is prohibited by the law of the land, can any Muslim go against the law of the land and hunt animal to eat indeed having all option available to eat instead of hunting? If hunting is not permitted by the govt. of India and any one hunt and eats the meat is it allowed by the Islam or not. If not then is it haram/not permitted/sinful act according to Islam.

Answer

(Fatwa: 761/636=D/1430)

Hunting halal animals and eating their meat cannot be regarded haram or unlawful. Both the matters are lawful as per the Shariah. Yes, if any other thing prevents it like legal ban etc, then one should avoid it since it may endanger his life, wealth and honour.
