Should I keep a beard and risk losing my job and upsetting my parents?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
I am a third year BSC student on a verge to complete my studies. My parents do not let me keep beard so what should I do? Now I am getting a job of 30000 INR but I have to be clean shaved also I want to keep my parents happy. And if I keep beard I have to quarrel for that with my parents and this will be daily course if I keep beard. I want to keep beard but I have to go against my parents and have to search for any other job because I will not get that job now if I keep beard.

It is wajib to grow beard. It is the sign of Islam. You are not allowed to shave it due to parents’ objection or it prevents you to get a job. The holy Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said that obeying a creature by disobeying Almighty Allah is unacceptable. As far as the matter of livelihood is concerned Almighty Allah has taken it upon Him. If a man leaves any unlawful employment trusting in Allah then Almighty Allah will arrange for him a lawful job. Hence it is not appropriate for a Muslim to commit non-Shariah and haram act merely for livelihood.
