Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
I am a Muslim, but i working for a MNC of USA company. Let me know. Can i eat birth day party sweets?

Answer

(Fatwa: 477/465=N)

Celebrating birthday is against the teachings of Islam and it is a custom of others. It is not right to participate in such programmes and have feast over there.  Yet, if a non-Muslim offers you sweet without participating in birthday programme then there is no wrong with accepting the gift.
