It is lawful without any doubt if someone supplicates Allah through wasilah. Hadith Zarir of Tirmidhi Sharif is very famous that a blind sahabi came to the holy Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and said, O messenger of Allah supplicate for me that I could see. The holy Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: remain in the same state and have patience. He insisted then the holy Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) taught him to make dua through the wasilah of his name.

In the same way it is also proved to supplicate with the wasilah of Hadhrat Abbas (رضى الله عنه) for rain.in Bukhari. It is also mentioned in Bukhari about the three people from the Children of Israel (Banu Israel) who were packed in a cave when a rock slipped from the mountain. They supplicated with the wasilah of their good deeds. Also it is proved to supplicate in many hadith with the wasilah of Quran, Zabur, Taurah, Injil, Hadhrat Musa (عليه السلام) and Hadhrat Isa (عليه السلام), kalimat tammah, and with 8 Names written on the sun. In wasilah too, one asks Allah. Wasilah is another thing, while isti’anat (seeking help) is something else. The person who cannot differentiate between wasilah and isti’anat he cannot understand this ruling.
