Is there any kind of music that is halal. I have heard that using percussion instruments is considered halal. Although this is quite a contentious issue, but still I would say that I have personally reaped some spiritual benefits after I quit listening music as far as possible.

Music has both the things; musical instruments and songs, it is unlawful to hear it. Whatever you heard about musical instruments is not right; it is surely a mischief of this age. To merely feel joy and pleasure in heart is not spirituality but the spirituality is the name of seeking closeness of Allah Almighty and it can be achieved only by doing good deeds and acting upon Islamic rulings. It is sheer superstition of mind and satanic doubt to claim achieving the spirituality through anti-Islamic matters.
