Is it necessary for women to go on jamaats or is staying at home enough for dawah?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
I’m a woman & I’m very confused about women’s role in the mission of Tabligh. I attend women’s tablighi circles twice a week but the sisters there keep insisting that women should go out of them homes on mastoorat jamaats. Simply staying at home is not enough. My question : Is it really necessary for a woman to go on jamaats (local, national, international) or is it enough to seek & give dawah from their homes . Which is the better option ? Please clarify

Answer

(Fatwa: 1636/1288/B=1431)

Women are not asked to do dawah and tabligh. It is the responsibility of men to learn religion and teach their women as well. Secondly, in the model period of sahaba and tabi’in (khair al-quroon), we do not find this example. Thirdly, it is the time of mischief (fitnah) and it is very hard for a woman to save her honour. Because of this mischief, women are not allowed to come to the mosque of their locality though they come along with their mahram. The holy Quran asks the women to stay in their homes and remain in purdah. They can step outside only in severe conditions . The tablighi people should arrange the gathering of women in some house of locality in each village once or twice and the women should discuss the religion there together. It is enough.
