Is there a way for the couple to reconcile after the iddah period?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
If a husband and his wife both living together, and husband says to his wife ‘ If you want ‘Talaq’ so badly, I will give you ‘a Talaq’ and he repeats the words ‘a Talaq’ three times. How many Talaq has happened? Another Question, immediately the wife says ‘Finally, at last it is over’ The husband replies ‘Divorce not yet Final & it’s not over yet., I need to give it to you on two more times for it to be Final. They are not living together assuming the Iddah period passes by; can they reconcile after the iddat period and what should they do ? Is there any possible way for them to get back?

Answer

(Fatwa: 977/977/M=1432)

If the husband admits that he has said the word of talaq thrice or there are legal witnesses of it, then all the three talaqs took place and she became haram. Now the option of raj’ah (revocation) without halalah came to an end. After iddah, she will have right to do second nikah with any man except her first husband. Without a legal halalah, she cannot marry her previous husband:
فَإِن طَلَّقَهَا فَلاَ تَحِلُّ لَهُ مِن بَعْدُ حَتَّىَ تَنكِحَ زَوْجاً غَيْرَهُ [البقرة : 230]
