Is it allowed in Islam to marry a second time and not give equal rights if the woman is willing?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
Assalamualaikum, I have offered to marry a widower and will InshaAllah try to support her in every possible way.But I have already told her that I will not be able to give her equal rights as of my first wife and she has agreed. Is it allowed in Islam to marry a second time and not give her equal rights if she is willing?

Answer

(Fatwa: 408/315/B=1431)

It is mentioned in the holy Quran:

فَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ أَلاَّ تَعْدِلُواْ فَوَاحِدَةً .[النساء : 3]

But, if you fear that you will not maintain equity, then (keep to) one woman.

It is not good for you to mar your akhirah by not maintaining equity. When you admit your weakness, then after marrying the widow who knows what cruelty you would inflict. Hence you are advised to take step for second marriage taking in consideration this order of Almighty Allah.
