AsalaamzWW Mufti Sab, Hope your well I would be grateful for clarification on sisters joining the jamaah in a masjid that has provisions for sisters when they attend educational events/classes. if sisters are joining the jamaat how much space can be left between them and the brothers i.e. if the main hall of the masjid is on the ground floor and sisters pray on the 2nd floor joining the main jamaat is this ok even if theres only say 2 rows of brothers making the main hall 80% empty (with only the first 2-3 rows full the rest all empty) and the 1st floor being completely empty? Jazakallah Musa Jabbar London (UK)

Answer

(Fatwa: 2072/B=1672/tb=1431)

If the mosque is two-storey building and if males perform salah with jama’at in lower part and females in upper part, their salah shall be valid. It is not lawful for them to stand in the same floor without purdah.
