Is there a reference to doing wudhu with cold water in cold weather earning more virtues?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
Is there any reference of hadith that doing wudhu with cold water in cold weather will give us more virtues in comparison of searching warm water? What if warm water/geyser is easily available, but still doing wudhu with cold water just to get more virtues? Harming our nafs is allowed in Islam or not.

Answer

(Fatwa: 1197/1197/M=1433)

We could not find any such hadith. Yes, it is not lawful to put oneself in danger. It is also not forbidden to use hot water but if one makes wudhu with cold water in the presence of hot water in order to get more reward and there is no fear of loss, then it is hoped that one shall get more reward due to extra suffering.
