Can people be named after Allah’s names such as Rahman, Raheem, etc.?

Plz tell me can the names Allah like Rahman, Raheem, Rafi,Bari, etc. can to given to People. Do we have to call then Rahman or Ar-Rahman.etc. Its common in our society. Plz guide me.

Answer

(Fatwa: 916/916/M=1432)

Names that are exclusive with Almighty Allah i.e. Rahman, Rahim etc may be kept by suffixing Abd etc, i.e. Abdur Rahman, Abdur Rahim. It is not right to keep only Rahman or Rahim as name.
