Is it permissible for a Muslim man to grow a beard?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
My age is 30 years and I am single.I want to grow islamic beard? Can I reduce its size to french cut etc. I have grown it on all my face and neck/exterior throat skin where I used to shave my beard earlier. I cut it to keep it below 0.5 cm. I usually trim it by barber’ machine. (as usually I have seen of shia fiqh followers-looks but it is not intentionally.) I want to inquire that “is it OK?”? Is it obligatory to keep beard? Please guide me as how should I grow it that it became according to Sunnah.

Keeping beard is wajib which should be at least one fist in length. The hair grown from between the temples of face are called beard; therefore you should keep full beard. French cut beard is not Islamic beard. However, one is allowed to remove the hair on cheeks.
