Should I tell other family members about my father’s apostasy?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
I just found out that my father is apostate, he does not believe in ALLAH, he left Islam long before even I was born maybe even before he married my mother, that is why he never took me to masjid or madrasa or taught me any thing about Islam, I just learned to pray namaz and Quran a year ago. I am 21 years old now, as I came close and closer to my deen, he noticed me and one day he had a conversation with me and he uttered many kufr words and also gave me a book called “A History of God” by ‘Karen Armstrong’ to read, I did not read it much cause I knew it could weaken my faith. At first I was shocked and pretended nothing happen but then again we had this same conversation and I asked him what he believes now? I asked him has he turned atheist. He said YES. Now I do not know what to do? Please help me out, should I tell other family members? What will happen now to us? Please help me out in detail.

Answer

(Fatwa: 939/D-193/File-D=1433)

It is fardh on you to learn necessary knowledge of religion and safeguard your faith and deeds. Read these authentic books i.e. Bahishti Zewar, Talimuddin, Hayatul Muslimin, Jazaul Aamal, Maut ki Yad, gradually and if you read it out before any teacher then it shall be far better.
You should offer Salah and practice other commands which are fardh and save yourself from haram and sinful acts. In short, be steadfast in your religion as well as read the following dua for firmness.
اللهم ثبت قلبي علي دينك
(2) Also supplicate for your father that Allah give him hidayah and give him the true understanding of religion. If you could convince him politely and pathetically then you may do so. Do not go through hot discussion with him. Also avoid doing any disrespect in any matter.
(3) What do you want to tell to all the member of the family, explain it and submit the question again.

Allah (Subhana Wa Ta’ala) knows Best
