Are there special rules for men’s clothing while offering salah?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
(1) Is salah of a man valid if he is wearing a lungi and a kurta and is not wearing any under garments while offering it? That is his private parts are open towards the ground while in salah. So is the salah still valid. (2) Similarly, is the salah of a woman valid if she is dressed in a sari? Is it necessary for them to wear some kinds of under garments for salah?

Answer

(Fatwa: 40/D=15/K=1433)

It is undoubtedly lawful to offer salah wearing lungi provided it covers the satr. If private parts are open towards ground it does not have any adverse effect on salah.
والرابع : ستر عورته ، ووجوبه عام ولو في الخلوة على الصحيح ، الدر المختار ، ص 404/1، نعمانية ، ديوبند .
If in sari the satr is not open and the body parts are not open then salah shall be valid, it is not necessary to wear pajama under sari.
