Is it permissible to use Ajinomoto & E-Codes in food items?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
Assalamualikum Mufti Sahab, 1) What about using Ajinomoto in Chicken Dishes, People say it is extracted from Pig Skin. 2) E-Codes printed on food items instead of mentioning the complete ingredients of it like E396, E589 etc. People say it is Doubtful?

Answer

(Fatwa: 2294/2091=D/1429)

(1) We do not know what Ajinomoto is. When one is in doubt, he should enquire and should act what is more precautious. If you are sure that Ajinomoto is extracted form pig skin, then it is unlawful to eat it, but if you are not sure, then you had better avoid it when it you are in doubt. But, nothing can be regarded unlawful unless it is certainly proved.

(2) We do not have certain knowledge about E-codes. One who has certain knowledge about it, he must act according to his knowledge.
