Is washing mouth with water enough for obligatory bath, or must one gargle?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
asslam-u-alaikum for obligatory bath is it enough to wash mouth (kully) or to gargle (lifting face upward so that water should reach to the end of throat. I used to do gargle but when discussed with a mufty sahib few years back who said that to wash mouth with water is enough, so i adopted that. today during friday khutba a maulana said that without gargle bath is imcompelete. When i asked that i have been only washing mouth during bath he replied you have been impure for that long time. Please reply i am very disterbed.

(Fatwa: 615/J)

Rinsing out the mouth is obligatory in Ghusl in a way that the water reaches to entire mouth, it is not necessary to gargle. Yes, if someone is not fasting then gargling is better. Therefore, considering gargling as obligatory is not correct.
