Can a Hanafi combine 3 and 1 rakah in taraweeh and omit prostration of forgetfulness?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
Respected Scholar: Last night in taraweeh prayers, Shafia Imam by mistake made salam after 3 rakah of taraweeh prayers. After salam people informed the imam that he had made 3 rakahs and should repeat the salah, but Shafia Sheikh/Scholar told the Imam to continue and make the next taraweeh salah only one rakah. Is this combination of 3 1 salah in taraweeh acceptable. Is taraweeh salah valid in this situation for a Hanafi follower. Should the imam had repeated the salah. The Imam also didn?t made prostration of forgetfulness at the end of the salah.

Answer

(Fatwa: 19026/1794=D/1429)

According to the Hanfi Fiqh, there is no salah having single rakah, so the Hanfi followers will have to re-perform the salah. If the Imam had stood for the third rakah after having sat at two rakah, then there are only two rakah of qaza to be compulsorily performed, otherwise if he had not sat at the two rakah, then there are four rakah of qaza (two by two) to be performed necessarily.
