No, it is not sunnah. Such action is not narrated by the holy Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) from any Sahih hadith. Hafiz ibn Hajar Asqalani (رحمة الله عليه) the commentator of Bukhari, has termed it innovation.
