Is my Nikah still valid after I said “talaq” more than once?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
Because of a misunderstanding and argument, my wife repeatedly slapped me twice. I went down, spoke to her mother, and asked her help in calming her down. On receiving no response from her mother, I went back to my room. My wife followed me to the room and demanded for talaq. Since I had exhausted all options and with an intension to give warning, I said, “I will give you a talaq? Then repeated the words talaq more than a couple of times. In this case, did talaq happen? I further stated to her that this is the first; I need to give you two more times at different instances. Next day, the elders of her family came and asked me what I said. I explained to them what I said; they then claimed to me that they are witness to the divorce and now the divorce is complete. They asked me that I should write it on paper that I am giving divorce to my wife Suboohi and sign it. I refused. The iddah period is over. Her family is claiming I agreed for divorce. Please answer me as soon as possible, because my mind is thinking about the validity of my Nikah.

Answer

(Fatwa: 1478/898/H=1432)

On the demand of your wife, if you said talaq, talaq, talaq thrice or more, then all the three talaqs took place on your wife and she became mughallazah bainah (irrevocably divorced) and haram for you. If the iddah was over, then nikah came to an end completely. Now, what advice do you want, write it in detail.
