Name a child after a Sahabi: permissible?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
I have kept my son’s name according to a Sahabah (RZ) name. His name is MIQDAD AHMED NUBAID. Is it ok. If not, what should I do now. He is 1.5 years old now.

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

We could not get the meaning of Nubaid. However, Miqdad Ahmad is a good name, you may keep it. Miqdad was a grand Sahabi about whom Allamah Zahbi writes:

كان المقداد سادساً فى الاسلام .

Miqdad was the sixth one to accept Islam. (Ruwat al-Tahzibin)
