Is a marriage valid if the bride lied about her past before marriage?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
Now a days, sometimes it can be seen that under some circumstances ,the bride’s side try to hide some sentimental things, so that she finds a good bridegroom. For instance: It is very common someone having multiple boyfriends, losing her virginity before marriage, having unethical relations in real life or in facebook or through online. So before marriage if bridegroom says I am witnessing/consenting upon this marriage under the conditions (she didn’t have boyfriend / any unethical relationships and so on ) and after the marriage it has been found that she did have unethical relations and her family and she actually lied about those conditions. In that condition will the marriage remain valid?

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

(Fatwa: 566/685/M=6/1438)

If the nikah was solemnized in the presence of Shariah witnesses and there was no hindrance in the nikah then it shall have no adverse effect on the validity of nikah even if the said condition was absent and the nikah shall remain intact. However, if the girl’s family told a lie at the time of nikah then they shall be responsible for the sin.

Allah knows Best!
