Who is held responsible for a wife not obeying her husband’s religious orders, her or him or both?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
If wife is not obeying the order of her husband like to cover her head, pay namaz, keep sawm, then who will be guilty and will be punished for this guilty the wife or the husband or both?

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

(Fatwa: 323/304/N=5/1438)

If the husband insists for prayer, sawm, Shariah purdah etc in good way but the wife does not listen to him and the husband is unhappy by her habits and activities, then only the wife shall be sinful and she shall be liable for punishment and the husband will not be sinful and he also would not get any punishment if his wife shows negligence towards Shariah obligations. However, it is the responsibility of the husband to change his wife in good way and with wisdom. He should not show any negligence in reforming her. It is very much possible that the sincere effort of the husband works and the wife starts following the right path.
