Is paying bribes halal or haram?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
I am chartered accountancy student CA in practice mainly involved in tax matters which require client to pay bribes to tax officers. CA may pay it and get reimburse from client. Is it halal or haram? And to what extent? The entire fee charged or bribe alone?

It is not lawful for CA officers to take bribe from the customers. They may only take their due fee. In the question mentioned above you may practice tax related matters but after you become an officer it shall be lawful for you only to take your due fee, it shall not be lawful for you to take bribe.
