If any person gives 3 talaqs continuously (no time between talaq) to her wife, is it applicable? Please reply with Quran & Hadith reference.

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

(Fatwa: 163/127/H=2/1438)

Hadhrat Uwaimir Ajlani (may Allah be pleased with him) gave three talaqs to his wife in the presence of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) without any pause in a single meeting. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) enforced all the three talaqs and declared his wife haram for him. It is mentioned in detail in Bukhari Sharif vol. 2, p. 791.

Similarly, it is also proved from the below mentioned verse of Surah Baqarah:

فَإِن طَلَّقَهَا فَلاَ تَحِلُّ لَهُ مِن بَعْدُ حَتَّىَ تَنكِحَ زَوْجاً غَيْرَهُ [البقرة : 230]

“Thereafter, if he divorces her, she shall no longer remain lawful for him unless she marries a man other than him.”

As it is proved by the commentary of the said verse in Ahkam al-Quran by Jassans. In short, giving three talaqs to one’s wife with whom one has done intercourse without any pause in single sitting though it is severely makrooh and undesirable rather sin, but if one gives, the wife will become haram. There are lots of proofs on it, the book entitled “Umdatul Athath Fi Hukm al-Talaqat al-Salas” (Urdu) deals the above mentioned topic in details. You may buy the said book from the book depots of Deoband etc. If you study the book thoroughly, it shall be very much useful for you.
